For Ambulatory Surgery Centers

FOAA Anesthesia Services understands the significant advantages that can be achieved by performing cases in an ambulatory surgery center.  FOAA's streamlined pre-operative evaluation and refined anesthetic techniques are designed for optimal patient throughput.  A major difference between hospitals and ASCs is the predictability of a healthier patient case-mix.  This reduces logistical variables and allows the peri-operative team to focus on quality of care, customer service and patient throughput.  FOAA is dedicated to providing quality customer service to all stakeholders:  patients, surgeons and ASC nursing staff and administrators.

Use of Regional Anesthesia and Turnover Time
FOAA is aware of regional anesthesia efficiencies in an ASC where patients need to be discharged with minimal pain and discomfort.  FOAA utilizes the latest regional anesthesia techniques to ensure rapid and successful placement of peripheral nerve blocks while maximizing patient satisfaction. These blocks incorporate both ultrasound and nerve stimulation techniques, allowing patients to recover quickly and reduce the incidents of post operative nausea and vomiting (PONV).  FOAA works closely with each surgeon to create the optimal anesthetic plan taking into account individual surgeon’s preferences.  It is FOAA’s goal to work with the ASC team to shorten patient turnover times.

Cost Containment

There are several ways that FOAA can assist an ASC with cost containment.  FOAA will implement standardized pre, intra and post operation evaluations that eliminate redundancy throughout the patient's experience.  This process allows all ASC team members to be on the same page and provides information that can eliminate same day cancellations.  FOAA can also implement a drug standardization policy with all MDs and CRNAs promoting cost effective anesthesia management.

Strong Support Services and Infrastructure

FOAA has experience working with administrative staff to assist with AAAHC certification and third party payor contacting arrangements.  Patient billing, third party payor contracting, human resources/benefits, staffing, performance evaluations, HIPAA and compliance training, scheduling and new staff orientation are all part of FOAA's administrative infrastructure.
