Three years since bringing in a new anesthesia provider, we continue to discuss the
fact that FOAA has been great to work with; that it has not just stabilized but really
brought anesthesia services to new heights.
The thing that really stands out with FOAA is leadership. FOAA’s ability to identify leadership
needs has been fantastic as has been their willingness to work with us to provide the services
we need. There has been a collegial interaction in working with FOAA that we had never had
with other providers.
What is unique is their openness in discussing situations in terms of not only quality care
but even financial issues. It has been a great collegial relationship with no hidden agendas-solving
problems together, whether they involve finances, service, quality... it has been a real partnership.
FOAA’s done a great job and I will always be thankful for their help.
Patrick R. Parcells, M.D.
Senior VP Acute Care Division
Administrator / Riverside Regional Medical Center (Newport News, VA)
The team at FOAA Anesthesia Services is excellent, extremely good... I can’t give them
enough praise. ey are extremely pleasant, easy to work with and get the job done without
any issues, and my patients are very happy. I have worked with several anesthesia groups
over the years and FOAA Anesthesia Services is the best.
Homayoun Hashemi, M.D.
Vascular Surgeon (Falls Church, VA)
The FOAA Anesthesia group is excellent. The anesthesiologists and CRNAs provide a
wide array of inpatient and outpatient anesthesia techniques. Regional blocks, particularly
in the outpatient setting, are effiiciently and effectively administered affording patients a
greater timeframe of pain relief and, more importantly, limiting the amount of volatile
anesthetics needed. This expedites care, and moves patients through the process getting
them out of the outpatient surgery center and home sooner.
The comfort level with the FOAA anesthesia group in the administration of regional nerve
blocks no doubt is higher and a technique more frequently used than other anesthesia
groups with whom I’ve worked.
With FOAA Anesthesia Services, we can get whatever we need. Having that kind of versatility
is great. The outcomes are good with no major complications or issues. They follow up
the patients. The anesthesiologists will call the patients after surgery to make sure
doing fine. That's the kind
of attention to detail I want for my patients, because I treat them
the same way in the care I provide.
The outpatient and inpatient pain management service is great. I’ve been very pleased with
pain relief services provided by FOAA for our patients in the perioperative setting.
Keith W. Lawhorn, MD
Orthopaedic Surgeon / Commonwealth Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation (Fairfax, VA)
FOAA Anesthesia Services has made it possible for our endoscopy center to other to our patients “painless endoscopy”. The anesthesiologists place safety first and are always concerned with
patient comfort. FOAA is a true partner, willing to take ownership and be an integral member of our
endoscopy team. FOAA management is very professional, proactive and genuinely cares about the
practice and our patients. I couldn’t be more pleased with our decision to partner with FOAA
Daniel J. Pambianco, M.D.
Charlottesville Gastroenterology Associates (Charlottesville, VA)
The anesthesiologists and CRNAs associated with FOAA Anesthesia Services are the most
responsive group with whom I’ve worked. They are extremely flexible and always available and
willing to do what is necessary to resolve any issues that may arise. I appreciate the fact that
they take ownership of the patient’s well-being and pain management for both routine and
complex obstetrical cases.
Walter J. Hodges, M.D.
Obstetrics and Gynecology (Fairfax, VA)
FOAA Anesthesia Services anesthesiologists and CRNAs are outstanding; They provide my patients
with a wide range of regional anesthesia options including peripheral nerve blocks and continuous
nerve block catheters. Comparing notes with my colleagues, the ability to other such a wide variety of
regional anesthesia techniques is something you don’t find frequently with
other anesthesia groups.
The effectiveness with which they do the blocks is also outstanding.
FOAA anesthesiologists and CRNAs provide outstanding patient care. More than one patient has
commented that the FOAA anesthesiologist was great. Every patient who receives a catheter for
continuous pain management gets a call from a FOAA anesthesiologist the next day and again on
day two. 72 hours later FOAA is calling them to make sure they’re doing fine. I would argue that you
probably don’t see that with other groups.
Even when I compare notes with orthopedic surgeons in
New Jersey, New York and Florida, no one experiences that type of patient follow up.
Communication between the surgeon and the FOAA providers is very good. It’s very rare that I ever
have a case cancelled because of a surprise in the pre-op holding area. If there’s an issue with lab
work or any other medical issue that needs to be addressed, they will inform me a week or two
ahead, making the day of surgery go much smoother.
II purposely perform surgeries at facilities where the option of a continuous nerve block catheter is
available, which, fortunately for me, is where the FOAA anesthesiologists and CRNAs practice.
Ryan Miyamoto, MD,
Orthopaedic Surgeon / Fair Oaks Orthopaedic Associates (Fairfax, VA)
II have found FOAA anesthesiologists and CRNAs extremely professional, courteous and caring.
The FOAA staff seems to have an excellent understanding of the specific needs for sedation in the
GI Endoscopy world. Patient flow through the endoscopy center has been smooth and seamless,
and the wear and tear – physically and emotionally – on the endoscopist has been markedly decreased.
FOAA providers deliver personalized, compassionate interaction with the patients without making them
feel rushed, even in a busy and sometimes hectic endoscopy center. The patients feel well cared for.
They recover quickly and wake up happy, without the usual “hangover” from moderate sedation. There
are no more concerns about patients being inadequately sedated.
I can’t imagine having to go back to
doing my endoscopy days with moderate sedation.
Trent Martin, M.D.
Gastroenterology Associates (Virginia Beach, VA)

they would administer"
